Omega-6 Fatty Acid / LA / Barrier Essential
An essential omega-6 fatty acid critical for ceramide production. Without adequate linoleic acid, skin produces oleic-acid-rich ceramides that cannot properly tile into the lamellar structure, leading to a permeable, weakened barrier. Oily/acne-prone skin tends to be linoleic-deficient, creating thicker pore-clogging sebum. Richest topical sources: rosehip, evening primrose, hemp seed and sunflower oils.
Look for facial oils high in linoleic acid (>50%): rosehip, evening primrose, hemp seed, sunflower. PM use after serum.
